Watch our short video to understand why it's so important to complete a Nomination for your pension...
We all want to provide for our loved ones after we’re gone, so it’s useful to know that your RPS membership includes a lump-sum payment to your beneficiaries if you die before you claim your pension.
By filling out a Nomination form, you can tell the Trustee who you’d like your beneficiaries to be and what percentage of the payment you’d like them each to receive.
You can nominate:
The form only takes a few minutes to complete and can help avoid inheritance tax and delays in payments. These could occur if the Trustee has no record of your wishes.
Every couple of years (or after changes to your circumstances), you should review your nominations to make sure your wishes haven’t changed.
You can update your nominations at any time by logging into your myRPS account, (or registering for your myRPS account if you haven't already). You can change your nominations as often as you need to. It's important that the Trustee knows your wishes are up to date.
The Trustee doesn’t have to follow your wishes but it will take them into account and look at your personal circumstances at the time you died.
